How To Avoid Duplicate Content From Blogger and Recover Google Penalty

To make better search engine result page (SERP) Google had excellent algorithm for them. But many common bloggers were got penalty due to duplicate content on their blog. In generally, the duplicate content isn't bad thing, but mistakenly it happen in the blog. Recently our blog had got penalty from Google too. We're in-depth of it. So I'm Learning more about it and now I found few important things. That I'm going to share with you and how to solve it.

Google and other search engine are strictly oppose this types of duplicate content and will provide you penalty to stop spam. This might pull down your blog traffic and search engine rank. Your blog posts will move away from SERP.

Actually What Is Duplicate Content ?

When content found on your blog is largely the same as what is found elsewhere on your same blog or in other blog across the Internet in SERP. In simple word "When search engine found the same content two or more times in your same blog." For example: a sign board show two different directions for the one destination. What should you choose? This same thing occur in search engine also.

So if same content appear two times in SERP. It is difficult for search engine to decide which content is more relevant to show in search query. This might force search engine to select which content is likely to be original and best one.

Above both version bring exact same content on it. Actually first one is original, But its parameter. This happen due to comment permalink in your blog. This cause to duplicate content issue,

Above, first URL is desktop version of your blog and second URL is mobile version of your blog. This also cause duplicate issue. So in my opinion, better to disable mobile version of your blog. Make your blog's template responsive

Another duplicate content issue in blogger, that is same content appear on post page and archive page. This will come to SERP also. So you have to block archive from your blog (check step) Given an example below for understanding. 

To avoid such problem in SERP. Google had penguin and panda and other search engine have their own algorithm. This mostly happen in common bloggers, because they don't know much about SEO.

How To Avoid Duplicate Content From Your Blog

It is easy to avoid duplicate content from your blog, but the result of this process might happen after few days. Follow the steps below.

Go to Blogger > Select Your Blog > Setting > Search preferences > Edit Custom robots header tag under Crawlers and indexing section. Now Check mark the circle as same as shown in the image below.

Save it.

Now it's time for configure your Google webmaster tool of your blog. I hope your blog is added in Webmaster tool. So go to Webmaster and select your blog. On Left menu panel, click Crawl > URL Parameters and click Configure URL parameters.

You will see a list around 5-7 parameters for which you need to customize their function.  You have to Edit few parameters to disallow showing duplicate content in SERP and reduce crawl errors.

• max-results
• updated-max
• reverse-paginate

Edit above parameters as show in image below

For m and showComnent you should paginates. For max-results and updated-max you should sorts. If you are not sure about parameter then choose Let Googlebot decide instead No Url. That's All. For More understanding let see image below.
